On Saturday, all of the four hundred and seventy-seven graduating students from the International Institute of Information Technology’s 18th Convocation have bagged placements.
An executive of IIIT-H said that a total of 117 companies had registered for the conduction of placements and have made job offers to the graduating batch. The institute observed 100 per cent placements in the mere concluding season of placement season.
Pranav Bhasin and Ms. Shreya Mittal, who had received the awards of B.Tech Best All-rounder at the Convocation, have been recruited by Facebook and Google respectively.
As many as seventeen Ph.D. students and one hundred and twenty-five Masters Students also received their post-grad degrees at this year’s Convocation.
A well-known cardiac surgeon, M.V.S Valiathan while delivering the Convocation address talked about how information technology was playing its role in analyzing the medical data as well as giving insights into the patterns of disease.
Giving the students a peek view of the Compendium of the ancient medical wizard Sushruta, he said that it described about one hundred and twenty surgical instruments.
Last year, the students and faculty together produced and presented three hundred and twenty five research papers in several journals and conferences.
Pernod Ricard India Foundation (PRIF) granted them three crore rupees for supporting six startups as well as for supporting research in fields having social impact. Ripple which is a leading company of financial technology of Silicon Valley has selected IIIT Hyderabad for the Blockchain Centre of Excellence giving a total support of 1 million dollars over five years.
